Malley Senior Recreation Center, 3380 S. Lincoln St. in Englewood, is hosting an Active Aging Expo on Thursday, April 7, 3-6 p.m.
The free one-stop-shopping event will include an exhibit hall of 50 agencies with information about programs and services and an interactive question/answer session. Health screenings, such as lung function, hearing, balance and flexibility will be given. Activity demonstrations will allow everyone can try their hands at table tennis, drawing, line dancing, tai chi, ballroom dancing and watercolor painting.
“Our goal is to change the perception of aging and allow older adults to realize their potential throughout the course of their life,” said Cheryl Adamson, Malley’s recreation administrator. “This is the time for older adults to try new things, such as a fitness class, sport, art or writing class, and to make new friends. Our expo will showcase the benefits of what is available for adults, boomers and seniors in the community and at the center.”
