Charter Night for Denver Southeast Rotary held at the Falls Event Center reflected the mantra of Rotary—service and fellowship.
Charter members were on hand to share festivities that included an Italian buffet presented by Rocky Mountain Catering. Jan Top and Mary Jane Casey coordinated the evening. DSE Rotary member Pat Forber was given a memorial tribute via video. The Irishman had passed away on St. Patrick’s Day of multiple myeloma.
Three awards were presented to exceptional Rotarians. Karen Loeb, the district literacy chair who has contributed in many areas to this club, other clubs and internationally, won the Gordon Lewis Service Above Self Award.
Past President Ed Meyer, a Paul Harris Fellow whose Impulse Band also entertained, won the Hanspeter Spuhler Friendship Award.
Dr. James Stambaugh, a past president whose numerous projects include PCs for People and I Have a Dream Foundation at Ruby Hill Elementary, and is a photo documentation of club events and programs, received the Christa Reich-Morris Leadership Award. She was the first woman president of this club. During her term, the club won six district-wide awards.
