Arapahoe County changes controversial jail name

The Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. Detention Facility is no more. On April 10, Arapahoe County Commissioners OK’d a new name for the county jail: Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.

As former Sheriff Pat Sullivan serves 30 days in what had been known as the Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. Detention Facility, Arapahoe County OK’d a new name for the county jail.

Within a half hour of the official change on April 10, Sullivan’s name was removed from the building.

“No reason to let grass grow under my feet,” Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.

The Board of Commissioners voted to revert the jail’s name to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility,
