Four other stores open in metro Denver

By Tom Barry

On another unseasonably warm summer morning, June 29, Littleton opened its first Walmart within the city limits on the northeast corner of South Platte Canyon and Bowles Avenue.

Joan DiMaria, COO of Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network, accepts a $1,000 check from a Walmart exec on June 29 at the grand opening of the new Walmart Neighborhood Market in Littleton. Walmart donated a combined $6,000 to: Columbine cheerleaders organization, Boy Scout Troop 579, Littleton Town Hall Arts, Helping Hands for Freedom, Interfaith Community Services and the Columbine Kiwanis. Larger donations were provided to the Colorado Center for the Blind and Arapahoe/Douglas County Mental Health. Bimbo Bakeries supplemented some of the donations.
