Victory comes as coach Marc Johnson celebrates 40th year

Marc Johnson, head baseball coach at Cherry Creek High School, led the Bruins to their historic eighth Class 5A state championship win last month.

Last year, the team was runner-up at the competition, but had not won the championship since 1999.

Johnson, or “Coach J” as he is known, had a good idea of what they were up against and what it would take to win.
