Citizen’s arrest lands accused thief in jail

A citizen’s arrest last week in Centennial resulted in criminal charges against a robbery suspect and no injuries to the arresting parties, but that does not mean Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson is recommending the practice.

“This one had a good result,” he said. “But certainly, confronting an armed suspect has a large degree of risk and potential for a bad outcome.”

The incident occurred on the afternoon May 2 when Rachel Saitta, 27, entered Mayfair Dry Cleaners on Arapahoe Road. As she came behind the counter, the woman displayed a six-inch kitchen knife and demanded money from the store manager, who sustained a superficial cut on her arm during a struggle.
