Love was in the air on Valentine’s Day when the University of Colorado Hospital Foundation had its Hearts of All Ages at Wings Over the Rockies.
When Nathan Kabat learned he was coming to the benefit, he asked his mom if he could bring a date. Never mind that Nathan was about to turn 6. When mom said yes, he asked Amelia Keyser if she would go to the benefit, she said yes!
The two are kindergarten classmates at Swigert International School. Are they adorable or what?
The theme this year was Under the Big Top and always included children, offering cotton candy, face painting, mac and cheese, tater tots and kid-size hot dogs, arts and crafts and balloon and caricature artists. Guests of “All Ages”, literally, grabbed small burgers and for adult tastes the food fare included carved turkey and veggies, all by Epicurean. That staff was really hustling to handle the 1,000 who showed up.
With such a population, the silent auction was also All Ages, from kids’ toys to ski resort lodging and electronics. At the quick live auction a signed and framed Denver Bronco quarterback #18 jersey from Peyton Manning went for close to $2,000.
The foundation selects various areas of the hospital to benefit from the funds. This year it was the orthopedics area, with lots of physicians on hand; nearly every one of them attired in something red or pink.
University of Colorado president and CEO John Harney brought his wife Maureen Harney. Other docs on hand included Dan D’Ambrosia, Jason Stonebeck, Omer Mei-Dan, Allan Bucksell and Vikas Patel.
Committee members included Kari Anderson, Derek and Jennifer Birznieks, Scott and Susan Brown, Evalina Burger, Chris Comer, Dani Daily, Lisa, Robert and Barb D’Ambrosia, Jenn Doner, John Froelich, Kaitlyn Glover, Erin Henninger, Steve and Sherry Hess, Marty Plumleigh, Megan Terry, Chris Van der Walt and Tim Wimbush.
We love this fun affair, finding ourselves grinning ear to ear each year because hey, what’s not to love here?
