Villager picks up 18 awards at CPA convention

The Academy Awards may have been the big event of the past weekend, but The Villager took home 18 honors in the Colorado Press Better Newspaper Awards at the 2013 Colorado Press Association convention.

The ceremony, which was held Feb. 23 at the Westin Hotel in Downtown Denver, honored newspapers from across the state for excellence in such areas as editorial, advertising and layout/design.

Among The Villager’s nine first-place awards was a staff award for Best Public Service for both page design and editorial coverage of the 2011 local elections.
